A Place In The Forrest

After a multi-day event about on-site work in a local park (2019), the participants, including the artist, had to create their own work. Lies Geerdens attention was caught on the neatly arranged trees, especially the checkerboard system that arose on the ground. Without a goal in mind and as a way of thinking, she started by removing the leaves in one of the squares.

Fully absorbed in her work, Geerdens lost the sense of time. At the time, her practice was still in development, but looking back at the work a few years later, it fits perfectly within her oeuvre. The feeling of loss of time, the patience, the use of the material on site and the reactions of the spectators to this are something that keep returning.
